Bento Lunches

A cute bento at CookingCute.com!

I have always enjoyed reading up on and seeing photos of bento lunches! Aside from the food most likely being delicious, I positively love how cute the arrangement is in the snazzy bento lunch boxes! I think the way a bento looks probably adds to it's yum-factor. :D

What is bento? According to CookingCute.com:

Bento, or o-bento, refers to a packaged, single-portion, portable meal that is usually eaten at lunch, but also comes in larger sizes meant for use at picnics, dinner, and parties. A bento generally consists of rice or noodles and some form of protein (e.g., meat, poultry, fish, tofu) accompanied by side dishes of raw, simmered, or pickled vegetables.

I am determined to start getting into this lovely hobby! I think it will help me learn to cook more (and better, yeow!) as well as prepare healthier foods for myself. I also told Chaz that I will be making him bentos when I move up to Kentucky and he will like them! XD I'm sure he will though, especially if I get him into the cool bento boxes you pack the food into! :D

Speaking of the cute boxes, I'm going to also start collecting them!

From Jbox.com

This is my very first bento box! I literally just purchased it and I should get it within the next few days. Of course, I'll update this description when I do, hehe. It is a very pretty blue and comes with a belt, pair of chopsticks & container, and a cute bag! It was purchased at JBox.com.

I hope to add more boxes to my collection soon! I also need to get some accessories. Sauce containers, food dividers and molds, and so on. I'll have to stalk eBay or see if there's a place nearby where I live that sells these things. I probably need a cookbook too! Or maybe I'll just look up recipes online.

Here are my favorite bento-related links right now:
