I've always been pretty surprised how few Melissas there are in the world. :P When I was in high school there were only two or three others in the entire school! I happen to really like my name. You can do fun things with it, even with my initials!
Melissa backwards is assilem, which either looks like a swear word or is a misspell of "asylum". Haha! Also, if you take my initials MNW and flip them vertically you are still left with MNW. I always thought that was spiffy. :P

First found on March 26, 1999, Melissa shut down Internet mail systems that got clogged with infected e-mails propagating from the worm. Melissa was not originally designed for harm, but it overflowed servers and caused unplanned problems.
Melissa can spread on word processors Microsoft Word 97 and Word 2000. It can mass-mail itself from e-mail client Microsoft Outlook 97 or Outlook 98.
If the worm already has sent itself, or cannot spread that way for lack of an Internet connection or Outlook, it spreads to other Word documents on the computer. Other infected documents can also be mailed. If confidential data is inside the document, the recipient of the e-mail containing the document can view it.
The worm's activation routine inserts quotes from the animated television program The Simpsons into other documents when the minutes of the time of the computer's clock match the day of the month (e.g., 7:09 on the 9th day of the month). Quotes include phrases like "Twenty-two points, plus triple-word-score, plus fifty points for using all my letters. Game's over. I'm outta here." The alias of the author, "Kwyjibo", is also a Simpsons reference.

I love the name Melissa. My father wanted to name me Melissa after his favourite song, “Sweet Melissa” by the Allman Brothers Band. I always wished my name was Melissa. It’s so beautiful. I’m naming my first daughter Melissa. It’s a bit off topic, but I just thought I’d share.
It’s so funny, I lived most of my life thinking my dad had wanted to name me Melissa Marie, but I found out shortly before my mom passed away that SHE was the one who wanted to name me that, and my dad had one of his typical cows about it. She finally found a name in the newspaper along with a sweet poem that was dedicated to someone with that name, and when she proposed it to my dad, he said he liked it, and thus, I was named…hmmm…actually, I don’t like the name I was given, so I use one I chose. And, because of a name I used in chatrooms years ago, most of my online friends (until the QBee) called me (and still call me) “DIVA”. For some reason, it stuck. LOL
