The other day I discovered a cool website called Pandora Radio that offers a very unique kind of free online music. You surf on in, type in an artist or song that you like, and Pandora will whip up a personalized radio "station" that plays songs that are similar to the artist/song you selected. 
If you don't happen to like a certain song in the list that plays, you can simply click the little "thumbs down" icon that pops up when you hover over the song thumbnail and it will remember your preferences! Here's a little description of the site's purpose for making this cool application:
[We assemble] literally hundreds of musical attributes or "genes" into a very large Music Genome. Taken together these genes capture the unique and magical musical identity of a song - everything from melody, harmony and rhythm, to instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics, and of course the rich world of singing and vocal harmony.
It's not about what a band looks like, or what genre they supposedly belong to, or about who buys their records - it's about what each individual song sounds like.
I've been listening to stations on this site instead of iTunes and such at work now, because it introduces me to new artists and songs. On the social-side, you get your own profile kind of like Last.fm and if you happen to use WP (or know how to include feeds into your site) you can incorporate your personal "listening to" feed on your website using plugins. 
I think my fave thing about it is how you can sort of create stations catered to your mood. Like if you want a mellow playlist, choose a smooth-sounding artist (like Enya for me) and you instantly get a flow of Celtic harmonies and melodic epics. I love it.
This looks pretty interesting. I was never into the radio on iTunes, mainly because at the time it was quite limited. When I was working at Intel I just listened to my favorite radio station via their web site. Now I get up-to-date music via the CDs we’re sent at work. But for the most part, I just listen to my iPod. :ipod:

launch.yahoo.com does that too, but I’m checking out pandora so that I can compare them.
I agree listening to the radio is better sometimes. I listen to 92.1 (love it), I dunno if you get that station at all though….

I tried the pandora music thing, but it says it doesn’t allow international listeners…
