I was at Wal-Mart this morning...YES...Wal-Mart at like 1am getting necessities...and I saw that they had Betta fish (fighting fish) for sale! My youth pastor from high school has like 8 of them...all male I think. Well, I gave into the urge and bought two! They are both female, because the males can't really live in the same tank together (because they'll end up killing each other) and I wanted two. So meet Dori and Coral!

I named them after characters in my all-time FAVORITE animated movie Finding Nemo!!!! I'm sure that Dori is spelled Dory in the movie...but I liked the 'I'....hehe. They both have interesting personalities...which is funny for fish. Dori is pretty skittish and darts around the bottom of the tank, sometimes just sitting there beneath some of the plants and resting. Coral just swims all over the place being really curious...she's pretty docile compared to Dori though. Whenever I get close to the tank or put my hand near it she doesn't do much but Dori swims away quickly. It was really funny earlier they were chasing each other around the tank. I don't really expect them to fight because they are both female, hopefully they won't.

I tried to clean the tank and water as best as I could before I put them in there...I put this stuff that takes out the chlorine or whatever...then this algae reducer stuff...then I aerated the water with the filter for a while to get the oxygen flowing. I even did this special thing I found on the internet where you get the fishies used to the water before you dunk them in there so they don't freak out of temperature shock.

I hope this goes well for meeee....I like fish! I just needed something to take care of...sometimes it gets a little boring/lonely/etc sitting around my computer when I'm working or something...now I can talk to my fish instead of myself...hehehe...
