No Worm For Me

April 15th, 2008

This happened a while ago, but it's too priceless not to share. :P

My alarm1 usually wakens me at 7am on weekdays. I give myself an hour to shower, get dressed and do hair/makeup2 before I have to leave at 8am to be at work by 8:30am. Like most everyone else I check the clock every so often to make sure I still have enough time to get ready.

So on this particular morning my alarm went off as usual and I reached over and turned on my lamp. I lay there for a few minutes before I forced myself out of bed and began my normal routine.

I went through the regular steps making, what I thought was, good time. I had just finished touching up my makeup and decided to check the clock again to make sure...

I look at the clock...and it's bright red digital numbers read...

Four o'clock in the morning!?! O_o

Ok, had to be a joke right?! Chaz playing a trick on me?! I stared dumbly at the clock like it was going to do one of those number-spin things in the movies. But no...no, it happily ticked to 4:01am, oblivious to my hope that I really wasn't that air-headed.

So yes. I had woken and gotten completely ready for work an entire four hours before I was even supposed to. I have no idea how I woke up thinking my alarm went off3 or why the numbers on the clock appeared perfectly normal to me.

Of course I sat there for a while, still in disbelief, before I finally just went back to bed. What's weirder is that I had gone to bed around 1am so I had only had about two hours of sleep! I'll never know why my mind played that cruel joke on me. :(

If the early bird gets the worm, there sure as hell wasn't one for me! -_-; Meh, worms are gross anyway. But I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this experience... ;)

  1. a lovely guitar strumming on my iPhone
  2. takes 10 minutes: brush hair and buff face :P
  3. my iPhone is too smart for that

Awww… that does happen! And you are definitely not the only one. Well, at least it has happened to me too. I get up “zomg I’m late”… run to prepare, and when I look at the clock again, it’s still night. That used to happened a lot when I had classes really early, so the at 5:30am was practically as dark as the sky at 2am, and I couldn’t tell the difference. It also happened a lot when I used to sleep by day. I’d wake up at 6:30pm and think it’s 6:30am, freak out, run and then realize that’s it is still “today”.

Knowing me and my paranoid mind, I can see that happening to me once I start working after I graduate. XO (I’ve had multiple instances of those dreams where you sleep in till 4 or 5…or 10…pm and miss a class.)

Lol that happens to me all the time as well! Though the most common would be me waking up on a weekend morning, too late for school, and I’d start going omgomgomg and then something finally *clicks* and I fall back to sleep. I’m so glad I’m not the only blonde one around. :P

Woooooooow! I thought you were getting ready to say that it was like saturday or sunday. Because I used to do that all the time in high school! Lawl! Well at least you got to sleep a little later than you would have! Since you were all ready showered and dolled up! Hehehehehe!

HAHAHA!!!! Well, i keep doing weird things in my sleep. It started with sleep talking, but now, I have twice looked my roommates directly in the eye and had conversations with them while asleep! They have a jolly time of it. I usually laugh at their jokes or something. Once I dropped my phone, from the top bunk bed and my roomie picked it up for me, intending to only put it back on my bed cause she knows it’s my alarm clock, I rolled over looked at her, and took the phone from her hand, then rolled back over, sighed and went to sleep!!! How did I do that??? I dunno! lol

Another reason to not trust the iphone. XD

Also, why does it take you a whole hour to get ready? I can get up, shower, get dressed, etc. etc. in fifteen minutes. :O

Hurrah! I’m not alone. XD

Another reason to not trust the iphone.

Note that it actually did not ring, my mind just thought it had. ;)

Also, why does it take you a whole hour to get ready?

Because I lay in bed for a while, play with my cat, talk to Chaz who usually is just getting home from work (night hours) and generally take my time. I can totally do the 15 minute thing, I just discovered I’m much more relaxed in the day if I wake up earlier.

Oh ouch! I always thing of Dane Cook’s little blurb on alarm clocks on the last track of Harmful If Swallowed… “Ahaha just kidding! I’m a silly clock playing silly clock games!” XD

That’s happened to me before but usually I stay up if it’s late enough. I find that I feel worse if I go back to sleep. I need to be up an hour before I need to leave as well so that I can be awake enough to get through my routine.

Wow! I have to say that’s pretty freaky actually…
And that you actually managed to get up at 4 am is pretty freaky itself.
I think I would be kinda happy realising I could sleep for four more hours, didn’t it feel good to be able to go back to bed?

Kat Apr 16, 2008

Oh my goodness, that’s hilarious XD. I can’t say that I’ve ever done anything like that before.

Good job :goodie: :P

Arwen Apr 16, 2008

Haha. I’ve totally done that before. Only, it’s in the form of me waking up in a panic, thinking “OH SHIT, I SLEPT THROUGH MY ALARM!!!11one” and then it turns out my alarm isn’t going to go off for another few hours.

Christine Apr 18, 2008

lol, you know what’s sad about this? i get up at 4 am 5 days a week. life is so depressing! lol.

but i’ve done it too ~_~

Hev Apr 18, 2008

Oh my goodness! I have done that also. I am just glad that you realized it before you got to work. When I was working I didn’t realize that I was two hours early for work until I had driven the 35 miles to work, lol.

Marieke Apr 18, 2008

This has happened to me as well. I remember rushing to the shower, taking one and then coming back and seeing that it was ‘only’ 4 am. I actually got back into bed and slept another 2 hours *grins* I didn’t take another shower at 6 am though. :P
