All Hail WPBlacklist!

October 25th, 2004
After 70 something odd comments appeared on random entries in my blog attempting to get me to join in rousing games of free online poker and buy several doses of sexual stimulants I have installed WPBlacklist as my counterattack. And all that stupid spam was posted just over the weekend! It outrages me. I don't understand how these idiots think that they are giving a positive message for their product or whatever it is their selling. It's freakin' free advertising and I'm not about to let them get away with it!

In other news...I bought a PDA last week! :bouncy: It is an HP iPAQ rx3115! The Mobile Media Companion edition. I totally love it! I've already entered in all of my contacts, appointments, and events...the games that I've downloaded for it are super awesome and definite boredom busters. I'm even keeping a running list in the 'Notes' feature of quotes that I like or that I read in books. Right now I keep writing in more as I read through the Harry Potter series again.
"All at once there was a scraping noise and the egg split open. The baby dragon flopped onto the table. It wasn't exactly pretty; Harry thought it looked like a crumpled black umbrella." :: Harry Potter #1, pg235
I think I need to buy extra RAM for it though...I want to install a few programs and add some music files that are probably going to take up a bunch of space. But oh well! This thing rocks my socks. :D Hehehe...

I get hundreds of spam comments on my blog every day. It’s extremely annoying! I’ve tried to get MT Blacklist running, but haven’t yet been successful. In the meantime I’m stuck moderating all comments on my site. I figure it’s only a matter of time before LiveJournal (and therefore my main site) get hit with the same problem. It irritates the heck out of me that those people are trying to use MY site and MY bandwidth/disk space for their ads.

Congrats on the new PDA! I’m a HUGE PocketPC fan myself, though I’m still using my ancient HP Jornada 568. One site you should definitely check out is pocketpcthoughts.com. I write the occasional product review there and they’re a good source of PocketPC news and info.

MTBlacklist has been my goddess for many moons  Still a few leak through, mostly trackback spam which is covered by MTBlacklist but is still in the works. I don’t see this problem ever ending, so we bloggers just have to fight the good fight.

Perry, yeah I totally HATE all this spamming crap. Although I do think that the spambots will have to become incredibly clever to hack into LJ to spam comments there. That system has been around for a while (I’ve had my journal for about 2 or so years) and I haven’t heard anything much about spam problems yet, thank goodness.

Branille, yessss I definitely used MTBlacklist when I had MT! That stuff is definitely a godsend. :D Bloggers UNITE! :bouncy:
