Obviously, the big buzz in the news today is the very sad death of Heath Ledger. Apparently, the rumor is that he overdosed on sleeping pills. There wasn't any evidence of foul play or suicide, which makes it even more the tragedy.
Sigh. I guess what's most shocking to me is that he is the first star in my "celebrity generation", per-say, that has died. Or at least the first one that is known to me.
I've never been a fan of any specific celebrity, but I actually feel grief for him. I just remember the movies I enjoy that he starred in: The Patriot, 10 Things I Hate About You, and The Brothers Grimm to name a few. He always seemed to play the "Lover" kind of roles and had the "dreamy hunk" mystique about him. I've never had a poster or picture of him or anything, not even as a teenager, hehe, but I won't deny that he was eye candy. ;P
This makes me hope even more that The Dark Knight is amazing. It will at least then put a real mark on his final performance. I mean, I didn't even know it was him when I saw the movie trailer for the first time. He truly looks like a much creepier Joker than Jack Nicholson.
I don't think that Heath Ledger ever really had a "legacy" of any sort, at least in my opinion, but he was definitely great in several of his movies. I'll be feeling a little sad when I see his last one.
I'm still a kid. I'm like six years old. But it's just a matter of wanting to get up, it's just a big journey. I felt like when I left home that I was on a journey, and I still am. ~ Heath Ledger

I was *shocked* when I heard, and so were a lot of my other friends. I respected him as a person & as an actor - he really seemed to pick roles that were “real” to him … What I mean is, he put himself so into his roles that I don’t think he agreed to be in movies just for the money or fame (as other “eye candy” sort of actors sometimes do). It’s a tragic loss, but I know he will be great in The Dark Knight.
I thought my friend was making stuff up when i first heard. So i rushed to Google to verify it for myself… Then i was hoping it would just be more viral add marketing kind of stuff.. but that’s wishful thinking too
I was reading up on the work he put into being the Joker a few weeks ago… and He’d done all sorts of crazy stuff to try and fit into the roll.. it makes me wonder if it had an effect on him
I know it is so sad… I mentioned it in my blog as well, and I find it kinda creepy and sad that the day before this happened, me and my friend was talking about how sexy he was and how his australian accent made him even more sexy :p
It’s such a shame, wasted talent. Apparently the Westboro Batpist Church are going to picket his funeral because of his gay role in Brokeback Mountain. They’re so disgusting, they’re not a church they’re a cult.
Yeah, this hit me harder than I would’ve expected it to, as well.
It’s a shame, since he was pretty young.
