Cedar Point Theme Park!

June 9th, 2008

This past weekend Chaz and I, and our good friends Greg and Jess, took a fun mini-holiday to Cedar Point! It is a theme park located in Sandusky, Ohio, right on the edge of Lake Eerie! The park itself was built on a peninsula, but is not crammed together at all. It literally has some of the best coasters I've ever been on!

Cedar Point

Cedar Point is a 364-acre amusement park/resort that is home to the most rides (75) and roller coasters (17) on Earth. With a history dating back to 1870, Cedar Point is the second oldest amusement park in North America. ~ CedarPoint.com

The hotel we stayed at, Castaway Bay, was massive and less than a mile away from the park! It also boasted its own indoor water park that we definitely took advantage of, hehe. You had to buy tickets for it, but once inside we rode the water slides, jumped around in the wave pool and then chilled out in the large 50-person hot tub! Very relaxing after a day of walking. :)

Cedar Point itself was one of the best theme parks I've ever been to! As I mentioned before, although it's located on a rather small peninsula of land on Lake Eerie, it is hardly claustrophobic. :P It's limitations actually allow for it to have a really unique layout. Most of the rollercoasters are built spread out across the area and over several smaller rides! So, while riding a coaster, you are really "going somewhere" instead of just rolling back and forth in a twisty jumble like average coasters.

My favorite coasters in order: Maverick, Millennium Force, Raptor, and Magnum XL-200! If you ever go to the park, make sure you ride those four at least! Also, Chaz and Greg will swear up and down that Top Thrill Dragster is the best ride in the park, so don't forget that one. ;) The only reason I didn't ride it was because Jess and I both weren't feeling all that great so we decided to just hang back and watch. I got an awesome video of the guys on the ride though! :D

Overall, we had a blast! :D I highly recommend the park to anyone who loves thrilling rollercoasters! I'd also recommend you try to stay at one of the hotels located inside the park because they all have beach access to the lake. We'll probably do that if we go again. Cedar Point also has a water park that has gotten rave reviews as well. Didn't have time for that, but definitely for next time! :D

Check out all my photos of the trip! There are also four videos as well: two from a bike show, one of this creepy clown game, and one of the Dragster ride. Bottom line, Cedar Point is awesome and I definitely needed the vacation. :P

Looks like you had fun! Theme parks are awesome - I don’t even remember the last time I went to one… maybe seven years ago or so? I need to go again!

Wow, that looks like an awesome theme park!!! I’m actually going to Six Flags Over Texas in a couple of weeks.

So jealous of the indoor water park though!

Omigosh! I remember that theme park. We used to go there sometimes in the summer when I was a kid (my whole family lives in Ohio, by the way, except us all the way down here in VA). Glad you had fun! :)

…made me wanna play RCT :p

My friend and I actually kept saying that exact thing over and over while we were at the park! XD You know you’re a geek when you talk about how things in RL would work in a game. XD

Wow that seems like a great amusement park. I LOVE ROLLERCOASTERS! Sadly enough the last time I visited an amusement park (Six Flags which is now yet again called Walibi World) was when I was 14. I really want to go again but I got no one to go with because both my brothers now have children and everything. X_X Too bad Cedar Point is too far away, it sounds like fun! :D And after looking at all those pictures of rollercoasters and rides, it makes me want to play Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, lol.

Wow… why don’t WE have such cool places? *sighs* Oh well, I’ll just live vicariously through you and drool over the pictures.

I haven’t been to Cedar Point since I was in 8th grade. I know it’s an awesome, awesome theme park. I never had the nerve to go on Millennium Force or the Magnum, I hate really big drops! My favorite coaster there is Mean Streak. I also like the Iron Dragon because it’s perfect for my pussy self.

Heidi Jun 12, 2008

Oh wauw that coaster looks awesome. I love theme parks. I am glad you had a great time, it sure sounds like fun :goodie:

:goodie: That is my FAVE coaster! I always make sure to ride the Raptor every time I go, no matter how long the wait! Last time I went, which was 2 years ago, they were still building the Maverick, so I didn’t get to ride that one. And, I walked up to the Dragster, and walked away before my best friend could talk me into riding it. lol. Haven’t been on the Millenium force yet either…ever since having kids, I’ve become some what of a worry wart. O_o

I’m so excited though, because my fiance and I will be taking our kids next month. It’s just a short drive there for us, so we won’t really need any hotel plans.
