Florida residents, who have lived through at least seven hurricanes in the last two years, seemed to heed the warnings. There were long lines at the gas stations and grocery stores.
NASA scrubbed its Tuesday space shuttle launch, and cruise chip companies were diverting several liners to avoid the storm.
The storm comes on the first anniversary of hurricane Katrina, which killed at least 1,600 people in Louisiana and displaced thousands more. It caused $80 billion US in damage.

In anticipation of Tropical Storm Ernesto, campus offices will close andclasses will be canceled from 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, until 7a.m. Thursday, August 31. Students should discuss storm or travel planswith their families.
This is good and bad. Good because Wednesdays are my busiest days...and I wasn't looking forward to mountains of stress like last week, hehe....bad because I'm paying for these classes and I want to graduate next semester!
So I'm kinda stuck...
