Leo DiCaprio Visits UCF

October 19th, 2004
Leo D.
So the world-famed "hearthrob" Leonardo DiCaprio graced the students at the University of Central Florida with his presence this afternoon. I was too late to actually get into the Pegasus Ballroom, where he was speaking, but I was probably within at least 50 feet of the actor during some interval. :D Hehehe. It is a well-known fact that Leo D. supports Kerry in this year's election when it comes down to environmental issues and this was the content of his speech as he probably tried to reach out to students at our university to maybe sway the vote. I got handed a little pamphlet while I was there that had some serious mudslinging against President Bush. I really wish I could have actually gotten into the room to hear what the guy had to say...I'm curious to know why he thinks Kerry would be a good president...of course, I have never really cared much about Leo as an actor so his opinion doesn't really matter to me all that much. PS: I'm moderating comments on this post. Why? Because this post is not about political debates. I respect everyone's opinion on politics, etc...but I'm tired of people trying to convince me to change my vote to Kerry. Bottom line, it won't happen. I'll keep all comments except for any flaming attempts at debating my political views. Thanks. :)

Yeah I heard he was going to be there, on the news today!!
That’s why I don’t talk about politics, because everybody has their own opinion of things so I keep to myself.

Leo was at UCF? interesting.

of course, I have never really cared much about Leo as an actor so his opinion doesn?t really matter to me all that much.

will this get posted experiment:

I like red. And no matter what you say I’ll never bend or yield my allegiance to my color of choice. Unless I’m constantly lied to.
I love feeling like a sucker. Gives me that warm fuzzy feeling of belonging, assures my intelligence, and let’s me continue my gluttonous, omni-centric, selfish, morality imposing, lifestyle.
Goooooo team!

you know who.

Scott,

If that comment was a direct insult towards me then allow me to ban your IP. It’s people like you that strengthen my own stance on politics even more…you think getting all up in my face and telling me how ’stupid’ and ’selfish’ and what a ’sucker’ I am is going to make me change my mind. You are seriously mistaken.

I respected your opinions and allowed you to post comments to my entries dealing with politics even though you are obviously directly opposite of me. You appeared intelligent and confident when it came to your beliefs and I really did admire you for that. I am just so disgusted that you are resorting to such horrible and degrading mudslinging in order to try to change viewpoints.

You have no idea who I am, where I come from or what I’ve dealt with in my life. You judged me immediately from the moment you found out I was a Bush supporter. I also think that most of the things you posted in your comments (including this one) were also attempts to just make me mad and upset…maybe even make a mistake you could use against me in the future when you bashed my belief system again. If this last comment was really just an ‘experiment’ to see if I would allow it…then how immature and inconsiderate.

I am disappointed in you. I also feel sorry for you…because although no doubt you are passionate about your views I don’t believe you are reaching many people with your current approach. You only solidified my own views more with all that you’ve said.

I’m pretty sure you don’t really care about anything of what I had to say in this reply…you can’t be respected for your views if you don’t give it to others.

That’s it, see ya later.

Divine Ms. M,
Of coarse I judged you. Being a Bush supporter or having any stance at all, plus bloggin’ it, makes you fair game. Why don’t I know anything about you? Isn’t your blog representative of you? Am I not entitled to understand you? Judge away on me! You post a political comment then ask for no dissenting opinion, this was an open invitation to a full button push. My mission is obviously accomplished. I’m sorry you feel so upset at me but I’m puzzled at you lack of outrage at what I had to say, or more specifically what the President and Vice President have to say: flat out, pre planned lies to the world audience. I am also (flip floppin here) not sorry, it’s getting late and the BS needs to be called exactly what it is. I have a clear understanding of the fervent Bush supporter not changing their opinion and that my opinion may likely only strengthen theirs and yours. I believe I stated previously that my posts are more for the readers of your blog. I have “turned” quite a few lately with a variety of methods. Thicken that skin girl! Your smart! Give it back if you have to , I would surely be a hypocrite if I couldn’t take it. I have these “discussions” all the time. Sometimes I’m just a typical male New Yorker and I come off kind of gruff. “immature and inconsiderate”, I love it! You forgot as few other expletives. You can give em to me if/when we meet. Think, think, think, that’s all I’m after out of you. Something tells me you still are… just a little bit.
Finally, I have absolutely no malice towards you, my thoughts and opinions are just that. It’s just my love for humanity pouring out in my own strange way.
A peaceful hand is extended.
Your pal,
Scott

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And Melissa is entitled to do whatever she wants with her website. Why waste time trying to convince a Bush supporter to change her vote? It’s the “undecided” voters that will make a difference this election year. The freedom to dissent, have different opinions, and vote for who you believe in make this country great.

And this is from Kerry supporter….

“everyone is entitled to their own opinion…Melissa is entitled to do whatever she wants with her website”

Absolutely correct. I never suggested anything to the contrary.

“Why waste time trying to convince a Bush supporter to change her vote?”

I don’t see that one in the rule book. I’ve switched many, why stop now?

“the ?undecided? voters that will make a difference this election year.”

Pure speculation, a media game at best. Bush supporters are switching by the droves. How else would you explain Kerry making up 10% in two weeks?

“The freedom to dissent, have different opinions, and vote for who you believe in make this country great.”

Aint arguing that either.
