Blocked by Akismet

If I normally comment on your website, please check your spam queue! I believe my information is being universally blocked by Akismet and until the developers remove me from the "blacklist" all of my comments on your websites will be marked as spam. I'm not spamming, I promise! :( I believe my comments to be much more interesting than the lame crap that spam bots seem to be posting lately. :P Please don't delete me!

If you notice that your comments on websites are being "swallowed" without even a notice of some type saying it is "awaiting moderation", then send a message to Akismet with your information and you should be unblocked soon. I just contacted them a few minutes ago, so we'll see how it goes for me.

Ack, that’s awful. I manage to get away without using Akismet, or really any spam protection for that matter. All I have are the “flag” words set up in WordPress to send things either into the moderation queue or directly into the trash. It has worked out for me so far. Though, I don’t get a ton of traffic so that might account for it.

Also, thanks so much for all your well-wishes about the wedding! Made us feel special. :D

Heehee, it would be funny if it did though, right? Nah I think it has to do with me commenting on someone’s site about 10 times in a row a week ago…and I think Akismet interpreted me as a spammer. :P Apparently once you are tossed into the spam queue, it sends a message of sorts to the Akismet website which then adds a sort of “rule” to block the spammer from ALL sites running the plugin!

It’s nice to know that it works on stupid spammers automatically, but it does suck when it happens to non-spammers. :(

I had to put up with this once. To be fair it was fixed within about 8 hours of me sending an email to the Akismet dudes, but that’s not the point.

This is a bit unrelated, but do you think you could get rid of the flickr and delicious RSS feed in your main blog feed? I’m tired of seeing them, when all I want to see are your blog posts. I’m sure I’m not the only one that wants them removed too.

Like right now, all I see are flickr images that you added, and not your recent blog posts. If I want to see your flickr or delicious, I’d subscribe to their own separate RSS feeds.

How did that happen anyway? I mean, how does Akismet decide your an excellent candidate for being blacklisted? I mean it’s not like you go around to all our blogs talking about viagra and poker. Uh ohs… XD

Akismet has protected your site from 16 spam comments already, but there’s nothing in your spam queue at the moment.

Hehe! I would only worry if it seems like your comments are being blocked on every Wordpress blog you comment on for a couple days in a row. That’s what happened to me. :( Akismet hasn’t gotten back to me yet so…I’m probably still blocked. :(

I agree with Jordan, I would like to see just your blog feed. I had your flickr feed before and I was getting everything double, so I got rid of that, but I have my feeds in categories, like I’ll look at everyone’s flickr feeds at the same time. And I’m not a big fan of delicious :/

Actually… I remember I added back your flickr feed b/c not all the photos flow through the guitar angel feed. Like those cupcake ones.

I’m wondering how that works, you select certain ones?

But anyway I’m just giving an opinion here, since it was brought up.

I’ve seen a few people get caught as spam, so i usually check it before i delete them all. I think once you mark them for de-spam, it remembers? maybe? iono. in any case, i’ve never noticed you there. :heart:
