I spent today mostly becoming intimidated by the plethora (yes plethora) of blogs out there that are insanly awesome and designed great. I know that when I installed Movable Type on my site I made a complete transition from my normal way of designing my site to something entirely new. The layout you see right now is going to be changed around within the next few days hopefully. I spent a good 6 hours last night just messing with the oodles of templates to make everything fit this one dumb blue one, lol.
Now what I'm going to have to do is take everything and make it so it all runs off of a stylesheet, which will enable my visitors to transition to whatever layout they choose. I plan on making a bunch of different ones to give everyone a variety to choose from.
I'm looking to sites like shanni.org and mischiefgurl.com as models for my own blog site. Now, when you visit them it might not look like there's much to it all, not alot of content (from first glance)...but good lord, if you use Movable Type and know how it works then you know the tons of work that must have gone into the initial workings of both of those sites and you totally appreciate it. Its a heckuva lotta work the first time you dive into it, from my experience. MT has its own tags separate from normal HTML, and until you learn to read it as well as HTML or CSS it looks like Matrix coding....hehehe.
Both of the women who run those sites are amazing with their skills in MT, which attributes to the fact that they've been running the system on their websites since 2000 and 2001. Sheesh!
Ok, looks like another late nighter for Mel tonight....adios everyone, have a lovely week.
.... FOUR MORE DAYS!

Hehe…
