Bubblicious Queen!

January 11th, 2007
I had to go on a loooong hiatus towards the end of November up until now because of finals and then a long (but well appreciated and needed) vacation in December. :D But now I’m back and I’m hoping to get things runnin’ again on GA.net! :)

This is my LAST semester of college! YAY YAY YAY YAY! :D I’m SO excited and SO relieved, hehe. Here are the classes I’m taking:
  • Creative Digital Problem Solving
  • Digital Media Production II
  • User Centered Design
  • Computers as a Medium
  • Digital Media Project II
  • Independent Study (DM Podcast)
So that’s 19 credit hours, hehe. Lots n’ lots of work, but it is all stuff that I enjoy and am very glad to learn.

The Creative Digital Problem Solving class is going to be my favorite, I think, and ironically probably the most difficult class I have. The class is based around learning creative processes to come up with ideas by using unconventional tools, if that makes sense. For example, our first assignment was called The Absurd Talent Show, where each of us had to come up with an “absurd talent” and perform it for 30 seconds in front of the class with music in the background. I found this challenging, not because I had to get up in front of people, but because coming up with something considered “absurd” would be a lil’ hard, hehe.

The Little Mermaid
Finally, I came up with bubbles! Hence the title of this entry. :) I went and downloaded Part of Your World from the movie The Little Mermaid (where Ariel is singing in her little cavern of collected thingamabobs, hehe) and chopped it up into a 30 second clip. Then I went to Wal-Mart to find bubbles and was super lucky to find a big container with a large wand, because the silly store was re-stocking after Christmas and was almost out of every toy there! :dead: So lucky me! After I practiced with the bubbles to the song, I realized 30 seconds was quite short, hehe, but I pulled it off pretty well in class this morning so I’m happy. :)

The expansion to WoW is coming out next Tuesday! I ordered it already from Blizzard and am going to get it on that exact day, or so they guarantee. This semester I must guard myself, however, from getting obsessed with it again like I did a year ago. I can’t afford to lose time in classes or in RL again. :dead: But I predict it will be ok. :)

By the way…WoW now has over 8 million players worldwide! Isn’t that incredible?? Check out this press release:
Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. announced today that World of Warcraft®, its subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), is now played by more than 8 million gamers around the world. World of Warcraft has also achieved new regional subscriber milestones, with more than 2 million players in North America, more than 1.5 million players in Europe, and more than 3.5 million players in China. Via Blizzard.

Crazy, I tell you…but very unsurprising. I’ve tried out lots of games and MMOs lately, and none will ever compare to WoW. :)
Have a great weekend everyone! :bouncy:

Rosh! Nice to see the site’s back up.

BC IS SO CLOSE!

Beta ended thursday, so now I have to wait… err… til the first minute of Tuesday! Damn…

Turt is driving up from San Diego and we’re going to camp out in front of EB Games from like noon to midnight lol, and Scrouch will come out later once work is done. We’ve all got collector’s edition, so the few days of waiting are so tedious =(.

I’m actually main-rerolling pally once it comes out. I know a load of people are saying they’re going to, but I doubt that most of it’s legit. It’s a load of effort to level something to 70, and most probably won’t seriously want to put in that much time.

Your schedule looks painful. Luckily I passed a load of ap tests before I got into college so I’m coasting at a nice 15-unit schedule with classes mwf, leaving two days free!

And I don’t have any hands-on film classes this semester, which is sweet. I love making movies (I suppose that’s good, considering I’m majoring in it), but it takes way too much time even at the college independent level.

The Little Mermaid was my favorite movie as a child O_o. I spose that’s weird, but whatever. I also used to know a guy who had a hardcore, irl crush on Ariel >
