La Glamour

February 21st, 2004

Wow, I just seem to be full of writing ideas today, hehe. ;) Anyhoo, on a whim I bought a Glamour magazine while grocery shopping this morning. I know, very unlike me, yes? Lol, well I found a very quotable quote in the article entitled "Galculus", talking about guys and dating:

"If you are together for M months and then break up, divide M by three to figure out the number of months it'll take to get over him."

Lol, of course the writer isn't being serious and the whole point of the article is to tell women to not be so calculating on when/how things are supposed to happen in a relationship, to just let things flow. I totally agree....I just think its hilarious, lol. Then according to that formula it would mean that I would come up with some very interesting time intervals to be able to get over my ex-boyfriends. Ha! :D I'll quote the article again:

"Says Mimi, 'I use that all the time -- and one time, I'm sure I kept myself miserable for longer than necessary just because the formula said I could....' Oops. See, that's where even advanced students of Galculus get fouled up; they forget that sometimes feelings trump figures."

Which safely means that calculations don't matter and there is no set time for getting over a man. I heard once that some psychologists suggest that it really takes five years to fully get over a serious relationship. I'll be a Cher and say as if. :) It's all about who you are and how strong your character is that will determine how easy or hard it is to get over someone. That's just what I think.

Sounds like some serious Algebra you’ve got going there. So basically the solution is it takes 1/3 the time to get over someone, compared to the time you were with them. That does seem to ring a bell! Ding… I hear an A major 7!
God bless you Melissa in all that you do. Keep playing you’re heart out. You are very desirable, and your boyfriend is very lucky to be with you.
Good night, :) Brett from thousands of miles away…
