Weird Truck Lady

June 20th, 2008

So yesterday, while driving home from work, I had stopped at a red light. I leisurely glanced over to the next lane and noticed a very beat up old pick-up truck a few cars ahead. What forced me to stare wasn't the mangled driver door or the severely rusted exterior...it was what I saw in the back of the truck.

There was a lady sitting there, leaning up against the cab. She was rather big-boned, but really skinny. The kind of person who is tall but has no body fat at all. :P Her hair was disheveled and her clothes were dirty. She almost looked homeless. But what caught me so off-guard was how she was acting. XD I couldn't tell whether she was talking to the driver of the truck (the little window to the cab was open) or to herself. But whatever she was discussing, she was pissed off about it. She flailed her arms about and gestured angrily in all directions, sometimes forcefully pushing back her hair and tossing her head.

This probably would have seemed a bit more normal had not the passenger seat been empty in the truck! O_o So, WTF was she doing in the back?! Was the seat gone? Was she banished by the driver? I never found out because the truck was up too far in front of me. Maybe that's why she was so mad? XD

The light turned green and traffic started to move...and I was shocked to watch the truck zoom onto the highway with the lady still in the back! O_o Isn't it illegal or something to even have people in the back of a pick-up? I would think at least on a highway it would be. The lady was still flailing about and talking as the truck drove off. I wonder if the driver purposefully drove that direction to shut her up. XD

XD I’ve seen crazy people like that before. Not in the back of the truck necessarily, but crazy in their own vehicles.

In my hometown we have “Homophobe Guy” who has a truck all decked out in anti-gayness, stating “Jesus says no” and stuff like that. :$

Then down here there’s a lady who drives around a beat-up Toyota station wagon who for some reason took the Toyota emblem off and replaced it with a Mercedes-Benz one. She has all kinds of peace signs, “let’s be green” signs all over her car so Idk.

That’s really odd X_X

Here it’s normal to see teenagers riding in the back of pick-up trucks for fun. Bonus points if the driver comes to a sudden stop making everyone in the back smack against each other.

Actually, my dad used to ride my sister and I when we were kids on the back of his pick-up truck. It was fun, but of course, he didn’t drive too fast or made crazy turns that would hurt us.

My dad stopped doing that when he learned it became illegal (or when he learned it was), but you can still see crazy teenagers doing it with their dads’ trucks. I know it’s kinda fun, but dangerous too if the driver purposely maneuvers a lot to make the ‘passengers’ smack against things/each other.

But I guess the woman you saw was a different case, I wonder why she was out there, especially if it was against her will :$

Maybe she’d been kidnapped? :/

I think she would have jumped out of the truck at that point, since we were at a stop and there were 100s of people around. :$

When you described this all I could think was schizophrenia. She was either high or is suffering from schizophrenia.

Hmm.. she’s prolly a little loony and either insists on riding in the back or the driver put her there to spare himself -_-; poor lady. either way, if she needs some sort of mental help, the driver shouldn’t let her ride in the back. it’s so dangerous. if there was an accident, she’d go flying.
