Dial-Up Sucks

March 15th, 2007

Yeah so I'm still alive...but suffering with dial-up at my parents' house, hehe. I love visiting my family but the seriously need to upgrade. And my sister even downloads songs on iTunes on that computer...how can she stand it! Grrrr! How am I supposed to write a decent blog post!!! I will try to update with something more interesting to read tomorrow, because I will be escaping to a library. Muahaha!

Some questions have been answered on the FAQ section, a few things updated on my quilt and umm...nothing else. I feel so unproductive! :(

Ok, well, more tomorrow! Leave some blocks on my Guestblock to entertain me. If you choose "pick my block" when you post, you may get one of the super secret blocks! I challenge you! :D

I know how that is! When I got my laptop I was able to pick up my neighbor’s high speed signal while my family was using dial-up. My sis tried downloading like 5 songs at one time! Gah!

Oh man, I wouldn’t know what to do without broadband internet. I’ve had it for so many years now. *comforts*

I always had dial-up until I moved to Lexington last year, so I feel your pain. Downloading anything was a total pain. My husband (fiance at the time) had cable internet provided to him courtesy of UK Housing. When we moved back to my hometown last summer, we went with the cable internet as well. It’s amazing. I don’t think I could ever go back to dial-up.

*goes to check out your guestblock and quilt!*

My parents had dial-up up until about a month ago. I kept bugging them to update and they finally did. It’s nice that when I go to see them if I need to look something up I don’t have to wait 5 million hours on AOL to load it.

When I was living in Houston, the house I was at had a hard time keeping a DSL signal after 7pm (I think it had to do with the outdoor lights that went on in the area), so I had to deal with dial-up. I didn’t download ANYTHING during that time period (1.5 months) and I ended up adblocking a lot of images on forums/websites just so the load time would be somewhat quicker.

Now I sometimes get frustrated with my DSL speed when downloading. I miss my 5mbps cable (which coincidentally was upped to 15mpbs after I moved!)

Thanks for the sympathy everyone! I am now back to hi-speed, YEAH! Hehe!

I am going to catch up with you all tomorrow when I have more time! :D

Hey, returning the comment. Yeah, Proj 2, I left early cause I was on the verge of vomiting. It was the first day of my period, and it was a baaad day: classes from 8:00 to 6.

I was at work today, and the guy wanted me to put this HUEG image as a background to the website. And I said “Well, that will be hard for people on dial-up.” and he said “Do people still use dial-up!?” And this is proof of that! Thanks! I’ve been lucky and always had cable due to my dad needing to tele-web-conference for his job.

Hey, how did you get the emoticons on your comments? I’m still a little new to Wordpress.

Poor you! And I think I have it bad on my parents’ DSL… :P

True. DialUp is bad. I have been struggling with my connection for the past 4-5 years. Initially, I used the internet for checking mails and using the messenger. But now, since I am involved in my website, I need to keep downloading and uploading to my site. It’s terrible when the speed becomes as low as 28.8Kbps.

I can’t adjust with Dialup for too long.. I might switch to broadband within another few months.
